The Afrika Mayibuye Movement is a South African party founded in September 2025 by Floyd Shivambu after his expulsion from the MK Party, describing itself as a 21st-century liberation movement rooted in pan-Africanism, Marxist-Leninist economics, land restoration and black economic emancipation. Its 'Restoration Manifesto' calls for nationalising key industries, land reform and integrating traditional and religious leaders into governance.
Where the party stands today
AMM is a new party with no prior electoral record (it did not contest the 2024 general election or the 2021 LGE). It is headquartered in Johannesburg and held its inaugural national convention at UJ's Soweto campus in December 2025. It says it will contest all wards in the 2026 LGE aiming for outright majorities, and holds no seats or coalition role in Gauteng yet.

Note: SABC's 5 September report announces Prince Mokotedi for Tshwane and Themba Lukhele, known as Skeem GP, for Ekurhuleni and says the municipal manifesto launch is being prepared. Johannesburg's candidate remained undisclosed in the opened report. A 17 September party-submitted press release records a Sedibeng candidate celebration on 6 September but supplies no names or detailed programme. No separate 2026 municipal manifesto text or confirmed launch date was located. The founding Restoration Manifesto was opened and remains the policy fallback. The 21 July workers' desk campaign concerns local jobs, not spaza ownership or municipal-service eligibility. Q16 is cleared because heritage rhetoric alone does not establish a renaming policy; Q6 and Q13 remain explicitly low-confidence national-policy inferences.
